What is the bar under the username and what determines whether it is green, red, or gray? I assume it is other posters giving props or swats. What is the process for said props and swats? (I saw that Wormy has re-surfaced and I want to be prepared).

How do you determine that your rep has gotten worse? I only see red, green, gray. BTW, I did get a little chuckle out of using you as the reason for wanting to know; but cathartic joy? Not so much.

Which makes the phenomenon all the more baffling.
But the figures, as well as the added bar, all seem to indicate so.
Which raises more questions than it answers.

I'm just analyzing the evidence at hand.
I haven't posted in a while, yet somehow my rep has gone down significantly.
You obviously can't see my rep point total but the added red bar under my username should highlight the added negative rep.
Which leads to the question of how my rep could have gone down so much if I haven't posted for the last month or so?
I guess people could have gone back and given negative reps to my older posts. But that seems exorbitantly cynical.

Ok. Just a moment ago, this post by me received a negative rep, with the explanation;
"I do it for fun".
Now obviously no one but me can be certain of the validity of this claim, but take it on my integrity that it's true.
