View Full Version : I'm Worried About Serge....

...is it just me, or does Serge look LOST out there? I'm not sure what it is. Maybe he got re-accustomed to the European game and is having trouble getting back into the NBA swing. Maybe he put on weight. Maybe he got his heart broken by some Euro-babe. But for whatever reason, he is NOT himself. I noticed it in pre-season and just thought it was pre-season. But tonight he looked totally lost, especially on offense. He looked like he looked as a rookie.

What gives?

It's just the first game of the season!

even the preseason games, Serge has not been in the flow, and looks as if all that he had learned and improved on last season had been wiped out, and we are dealing with Serge 1.0 again

Just to let you guys know, he didn't look that much better in Europe. I saw him play in person for Spain and for Real Madrid. The coaches there never looked to his mid-range jumper, and most of the points he got came on putbacks. He was kinda used as a rebound machine....maybe he's gotten used to being totally ignored on offense. Either way, he's still himself defensively.

I totally agree. Fortunantly, we don't need much help from him offensively to be effective as long as Perkins continues to look like he did tonight/in the preseason. He'll always be more of a defensive threat than an offensive one.

Not jumping to anything just yet. His jumper will come around. He hasnt forgotten what he learned last year.

I think he will get in the flow as the year rolls on. I would like to see Perk get a few more touches down low he has looked good in preseason and in the 1st game now that he lost all the weight and got his knee right. I know he's not going to be a dominant offensive force but I think Perk can give us some scoring down low and he made a great pass to Collison for the easy bucket last night. I think you need to get the ball to the bigs sometimes even if they just kick it back out just to keep them in the flow on offense.

All things considered, what we saw last night should've taken place in an exhibition game in October.

Think I'll wait a month before getting concerned about anything.

And the Magic style of ball isn't something the Thunder will see again, they are a center with four three point shooters.

The less he scores, the less we have to pay him.......He's helping us out come negotiation time...Because if he averages a double double....bye bye serge

A lot of our offensive woes last night, and I don't think there were many, are directly attributable to Dwight Howard. He didn't do much on offense, but he is still a force on defense. He definitely makes it tough in the middle for Russ. I wouldn't worry too much about anything after an easy win against the multiple defensive player of the year winner.

I wouldn't worry about one game. However, if he really starts to struggle...I hear Hakeem Olajuwon is available...

Wake up Serge! We're gonna play the Grizz! Anyways, he had 6 points and 6 rebounds in the T'Wolves game. Not like him.

Darnell Mayberry on Serge:

Someone asked me on Twitter last night whether we should be concerned about Serge Ibaka. My answer was yes. Something’s not right with him. He doesn’t look like the up-and-coming force we saw last season. It’s much too early to draw conclusions, but it’s definitely worth keeping your eye on. Unlike last night, Ibaka’s intensity was at least there tonight. He was trying, which is more than I could tell he was doing against Orlando. But he just looks lost and confused most times and complacent at others.

A bit disappointed, although I thought he played decent last night. He's just a pup. Let's not get all worried about nothing. He will be what we want him to be before long.

I agree with that. I think sometimes we forget how young these guys are.
