What if ... the Hornets never left? Well, they did make the playoffs the first 2 seasons after they left but this is definitely a lot of fun now. :D
Why is it we always resort to German to describe that site? :D

Ach, ich habe alles vergessen, ich wusste das deutsche. (had to use the English to German translator for the last half of the sentence).
I am SO happy the Hornets never went to the playoffs while they were here. It's so much better to have our first playoffs with our real team.

I read that also.
Posters want to blame the attendance problem on being part of a " league wide problem " . They seem to think the NBA is dying.
Funny reading HH now say that the NBA is not that important to him. I would also imagine winning the Super Bowl has put the Hornets way down his list.
That entire thread is delusional.

I just had a look, too, and completely agree with all of the above. New Orleans fans (as a collective whole, I'm sure there are many exceptions) don't get what supporting one's team means. Support them when all is well? Sure. Lots of fans will do that. Support them during tough times? That has consistently been a huge difference between Okc & New Orleans. But, truth is, it just doesn't matter anymore. We'll do our thing and New Orleans will do its thing. You sure as heck can't tell New Orleans anything, since they already know that they have all the answers. Chris Paul's problem is that he has actually seen the difference.

Darn, I haven't visited that site in a long time but clicked on the link out of curiosity and wish I hadn't. That's got to be one of the most uninformed, clueless threads that I've ever seen. Great humor though.:D
They complain about small markets getting treated like crap but in the same breathe, they can't believe that the league went from big market Seattle to small market OKC.
Small markets can't compete? Then why does Utah, OKC, Orlando and San Antonio all have shots at winning it all right now? Why did San Antonio win 3 titles in 5 years? Why did Utah go to back to back titles?
Superstars need to be in big markets and the league does nothing about it? WTF? Have they ever heard of the salary cap? The NBA was the first league to put in a salary cap. The NFL got the idea of a salary cap from the NBA and because of that, Lebron is in Cleveland. In fact, he already re-signed there once and will most likely resign this summer. The Knicks talk is just a way to deflect pressure from his teammates and it's worked to perfection.
The league needs to do something fast for it's "broken product"? What they heck do they think all the hard cap, cost reduction talk is then? If anything, that's another way to help the small markets. Hard caps kill whatever advantage the big markets have. Not to mention that there is already a new revenue sharing model that's in place that will be part of a larger collective bargaining agreement.
Look at all the Olympians in small markets. Boozer and DWill with Utah, Dwight Howard in Orlando, CP in New Orleans, Redd in Milwaukee, Ginobili and Parker with the Spurs if you count foreigners plus TD played in 2 Olympics.
Are they sure that they are talking about the NBA? MLB is where superstars change teams to larger markets. If big markets always had superstars then why have the Clippers, Bulls, Nets and Knicks sucked so bad for so long? I guess it will change this summer but not because those are large markets but rather because they have tons of cap space.
Quit harping on how horrible the "economic model" is. There is more to the model than guaranteed contracts. Be glad that the NBA is the only league that limits the amount of years and amount on contracts in the form of max salaries.
At the end of the day, it all comes down to one thing. You either have a good owner with a strong front office, fan base and coaching staff or you don't. They have none of the above and are a lame product as a result. Quit blaming Stern and the NBA for the faults of your joke of an organization.

The league wide excuse is their way of covering up for their lame, fair weather support.
In all fairness to Harvey, I don't think he ever wanted the NBA to come in the first place and he's finally come full circle. He has admitted on many occasions that he didn't want the Hornets at first but then had a "change of heart". Ironically, that change came when he made his connections and became an insider. Being an insider of a New Orleans based team made him try his hardest to like the NBA and he fooled himself for the longest that he was into it. But like all things, he came around to the fact that it wasn't for him.
My best guess is that he always wanted to be a Saints insider and when he didn't get that, he jumped on the chance to be a Hornet's insider. Now, he realizes that he's a hockey guy but there are no teams in Houston or New Orleans so he's stuck with the Hornets as a 2nd sporting option in his hometown. Oh well. It could be worse. I'm sure the people in Haiti would love to switch spots with him.
