More from Bill Simmons:

Q: I just saw a link on ESPN.com talking about the Lakers' first preseason game. So, I clicked the NBA link at the top of ESPN.com to see how my Sonics did in their first preseason game, meaningless as it might be. And then I remembered. This was my first "It Just Sank In" moment as a Sonics fan. I'm going to rummage through my cupboards for some scotch now.
-- Jack, Seattle

SG: Here's my contribution to the poor Sonics fans: You know the team Kevin Durant plays for right now? I'm never mentioning their "new" name in this column. Ever. For as long as I have it. I'm alternating between these four names …

1. Kevin Durant's Team.
2. The Seattle SloppySeconds
3. The Bennett City Hijackers
4. The Team That Shall Not Be Named

Let's all make a pact not to mention B. S.'s name on this forum.

That's okay. If it upsets him that much to see Oklahoma City have a basketball team, then chances are every time the Thunder wins a game, he'll lose sleep at night. So no matter what, we win.

I guess, but he's more of a joke than anything else. I don't think it's possible for him to hurt my feelings.

It's hard to take any one from ESPN to serious.

So, I guess he never mentions the Lakers, Dodgers, Giants (SF), A's, Spurs, Avalanche, Stars, etc., etc., etc....

His editor, and most of the ESPN Page 2 staff are from Seattle.

As I've posted previously, I heard that very thing on a college football telecast. The announcers somehow began talking the Sonics relocation and they said that many " higher-ups " at ESPN were Sonic fans.

He was critical of the whole move, lawsuit, stadium proposal and the whole Bennett era from the beginning. I completely understand that. However, it's over. I think that it is understandable that people have hurt feelings, anger, and the like. For many people, me included, an icon, a piece of your own life's history, the thing you did with your kids...is gone or at least changed forever. I get all that. But it's done with and people need to move on. Anger isn't going to reverse things. At some point, he and the rest either need to embrace the new team or do something else with their time. Sniping does no good and just makes people look sort of ridiculous.

In the past however, Simmons has had some good stuff on his site.

Whatever amount of time it takes will be too long for me, though.
