WWE Raw on the USA Network
Live from Seattle, WA
- Tonight's WWE RAW kicks off with the pyro exploding in the arena as we get a glimpse of a packed house. Michael Cole welcomes us to RAW at the Key Arena in Seattle, Washington tonight.
Mickie James and Jamie Noble vs. Santino Marella and Beth Phoenix
William Regal is sitting at ringside in his King’s chair with Layla by his side. Out first for this intergender tag match is Jamie Noble with Mickie James. The WWE Women’s Champion Beth Phoenix and WWE Intercontinental Champion Santino Marella are out next. Santino gets on the mic and says he has been criticized for being too Italian and not American enough. He says he is trying to fix that and has adopted a new NBA team. He takes off his shirt and has a Oklahoma City Thunder t-shirt on and the Seattle fans start to boo Santino, as the Seattle Supersonics have left for OKC. He tells Mickie and Noble that Glamarella is going to reign down on them.
Mickie and Beth start it out and go back and forth until Santino gets in. This is a mixed tag match so Mickie has to tag out. Noble and Santino go at it now with Noble getting offense early with a clothesline, shoulderblocks and a nice suplex. Noble goes for his armbar but Beth comes in. Mickie kicks her out of the ring. Santino rolls Noble up for a 2 count and throws him into the turnbuckle. Santino runs into Noble’s boot. Beth distracts Noble and Santino rolls him up for the quick win.
Winners: Santino Marella and Beth Phoenix
After the match, Santino and Beth celebrate on the outside until Noble charges Santino and runs him off into the crowd. William Regal tries to attack Noble but gets dumped over the barrier into the crowd. Regal comes back pissed off and starts brawling with Noble. The referee tries to hold Regal back while he’s going insane as Noble and Mickie escape.

That is too funny. I'm still chucking. Well, you know Jim Ross (J.R.) is from Oklahoma. He probably told the WWE writers to add that in there.

Hey, SF93, lighten up on the guy ... he's one of OKC's Washington HEROES! By my reckoning ... see http://dougdawg.blogspot.com/2008/04/and-now-special-thanks-to.html ... they include:
First & Foremost, Chris Van Dyk (though he doesn't seem to get much blame in Washington)
http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a49/DougLoudenback/NBA/chrisvandyk.jpg
Mayor Nichols
http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a49/DougLoudenback/NBA/gregnichols2.jpg
Frank Chopp
http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a49/DougLoudenback/NBA/frankchopp.jpg
Governor Gregorie
http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a49/DougLoudenback/NBA/chrisgregoire.jpg
... and really helpful media guys like the warm and cuddly Steve Kelley. http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a49/DougLoudenback/NBA/stevekelley.jpg
If God doesn't love 'em all, OKC surely does! (pretend smiley - 6 graphic limit per post does not allow for a real one) Collectively, they made this season's Okc inaugural NBA season possible, and without them, it would NOT have happened! Kisses to each and all!

Let's remember that Chris Van Dyk is for Ballmer's Arena Plan. Says it's beneficial for everyone, even the taxpayers (I know, I'm shocked too). The reason not many blame Van Dyk is that those politicians that want to get something done find ways to work around initiatives like that. In 1995, the Mariners Kingdome vote FAILED. Now look at our beautiful Safeco Field. And let us not forget that Gregoire will be out on November 5th.

Well, my friend from Washington, do you really think that BUT FOR I-91 that Seattle wouldn't have most likely found an arena solution IN Seattle? Essentially, the blame for PBC trying to find an arena elsewhere than Seattle just has to, has to, has to fall at the feet of Van Dyk (as well as the voters who followed his piping tune into the cold cold depths of the Puget Sound). Disagree?

I-91 or no I-91, the leadership from the local and state government wasn't there. For example, Mayor McCheese recently tried to impose a 10 cent tax on all plastic bags from retailers. If you went to pick up some groceries, and got 3 plastic bags, that's an extra 30 cents you have to pay. Now that's leadership you can believe in!
I really think 1995 was the prime example. The ballpark measure was defeated, and Governor Lowry called a special session to deal with just that issue (Where was Gregoire's special session to view Ballmer's offer?). To pay for Safeco Field, the legislature put together a package that consisted of the food & beverage tax in King County restaurants and bars and car rental surcharge in King County (what Ballmer's group wants), but also a credit against the state sales tax, sale of special stadium license plates, lottery funds, and a ballpark admissions tax. There's so many ways to scrounge up $75 million for an arena. I firmly believe that had the state passed the $75 million for a Key Arena upgrade, that the Thunder would still be in OKC, and KeyArena would be getting ready for the NBA's 31st team, or the Grizzlies, or the Bucks or maybe even an NHL team like the Predators or Blue Jackets (who knows, maybe some rich Seattleite would want an NHL team)
Bennett didn't want a team in Seattle. If he was going to put the team somewhere, it was going to be in the suburbs. Let's remember all that, "Key Arena won't do" talk.

Well, actually, although the Key was eschewed from the get-go (ala statements made by Bennett when the purchase was announced and in the presence of Schultz), Seattle, per se, was not. But, with I-91 passing after that, Seattle proper was no longer an option. I stick with what I said about Van Dyk. More, his sentiment was apparently more pervasive than just with Seattle voters, ala the Legislatures' complete paralysis. Without him, Okc would probably not have a team this season.

It took a lot of stupidity for OKC to get the Thunder for this season. Even with Van Dyk's I-91, somebody or some politician should have been there to pick up the slack and do what it took to keep the Sonics in Key Arena, and trying to work around the initiative. Nobody fought I-91, not Bennett, not Save our Sonics (which is/was a non-profit, not a political action committee).
Bennett said it would have little effect on his efforts: http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/basketball/287153_sonx30.html
And he said, even with I-91, that a public vote wasn't needed if an arena was paid for with extensions of existing taxes on hotels, restaurants and car rentals, which paid for Qwest and Safeco fields
