Well you're getting a good player and even better person. His dad was a coach of mine and Blake unknowingly saw me play in quite a few football games and wrestling matches. Classy family all around. Talk about feeling old. :)

nice...yea, I love his mentality...the guy is a class act and been working his ass off even though he's the guaranteed #1 pick....guys like thabust and brandon jennings are probably partying it up....
I really feel that blake coming in with his attitude and hard hat will really be infectious to the other guys in the clubhouse....this could be huge....
watchout OKC, we owe you payback after that season finale debacle....

Randolf's douchery (along with the douchery of the entire organization) will outway and dominate the class of Griffin.

hahaha...you'd hope so, but thanks to Blake, we can give Zach the Tim Thomas treatment Chicago gave him: "stay home" we'll mail u your check

If you were the owner, would you pay someone 16 mil to stay home?

Bulls paid Tim Thomas like $8M or something a few yrs back....
If it meant the team would be better, then yes, I'd cut my losses since the added revenue from fans would make up for it....
but in Zach's defense, he didn't have any mental breakdowns last year, and looks like he's on board to be a team player for once....jus saying, due to his history, gotta keep that option open...

History repeats itself. He was just using his anger at NYK for benching him that last part of the season to play well.
Did you forget D. Sterling was your owner?

D. Sterling used to get so much hatred from LA, but not these days..fans don't talk bad about him anymore in LA, and he even been getting some props, but the fact that there's less negativity regarding Sterling is a huge change.....
he's opened his pocket book ever since they re-signed Elton and Corey Mags in like '03 or '04ish....
*signed Cuttino, when he was good
*proposed contract to Gilbert, matching Washington's
*offered max to Kobe
*resigned Kaman to $60M, which was market value for him at the time, after his showing in the '06 playoffs
*signed Baron, which was a bold move that everyone raved last year
*offered Elton $80M-plus, but he pulled the infamous heist
*instead of accepting the fans sympathy for the elton debacle, and simply saving the money, he told the staff to get a good replacement, where we grabbed Camby - a good replacement given the short notice and circumstances.
*approved taking on Zach salary, due to injuries to Camby/Kaman last year. A regretful move, but glad we didn't sit around on our a$$...like say a Milwaukee or Memphis would have....
These aren't your old school clippers that didn't re-sign guys like Maurice Taylor and Derek Anderson to Max Deals, just cause they avg. 25ppg. They got heat for letting such players go for nothing, but in hindsight, they were great "let-gos"
I wouldn't be a clipper fan today, if we kept letting players go and restarting....

Just out of curiosity, has there been talk of Blake playing some C with Zach at PF and then moving Blake to his natural spot when Zach is either traded, bought out or his contract is up? Blake is a high character guy who would be willing to do that if it meant helping the team.
As for Sterling, the fans may not complain about his spending habits but he's been getting killed in the press more than ever. ESPN the mag ripped him to shreds regarding his sexual habits, eating off of other people's plates, racist rent practices and so on. The last thing a Clipper fan can want is for this joker to stay on. Somehow, someway, he needs to come to his senses or someone needs to talk him into selling the team.

to my displeasure, there's chatter on clippers forums that he can play some 3..=( I've done my best to suppress such ridiculous thot but to no avail....but yes, some talk of playing blake at the 5 ONLY in certain in-game situations, where we're playing small ball....
Blake can play some 3 if he's guarding big 3s (like a Josh Smith), but not too much time there...he can't guard a Durant..but then he could post up Durant....
he needs to be a full-time 4, and we need to trade Zach next year, when he becomes a valuable expiring contract....after watching Blake's top 10 plays, I think he's even better than I initially had thot....

Yeah, Blake Griffin is a PF all the way. He doesn't have the length to match up with centers on a regular basis, and playing him at SF is a waste because taking him away from the basket plays away from his strengths. I wouldn't want my best rebounding big man spending his time guarding wings on the perimeter.

Knicks did that, and Zach can manage, since most nba C's aren't great scorers...but we have Camby/Kaman/Deandre, so we're good at C....but yea, we need to trade Camby or Kaman, since no one will touch Zach's contract...

I'm thinking this for now........
C -Zach/Kaman/Deandre
PF-Blake/Bambi

i'd personally prefer bambi or kaman as our starting 5 tho.....they can play D...zach got no D

So would I but the whole point is to keep Zach in the starting lineup because if he goes to the bench, he will become the biggest locker room cancer on the face of the earth.

LOL..good point..but yea, if he does that, then we'll have to pull the Tim Thomas move......what worries me is that Blake might not start....dumbleavy better get smart quick and start Blake from Day 1...he's ready to produce right away....i really feel a derrick rose type impact of a rookie year for him....

Well, it's not unprecedented. Portland paid Steve Francis for 2 years at close to or over $30 million even after the buyout. That's over $15 million per season or at close to it. The ironic thing about that...it was Randolph who Francis was traded for.
