Fox Sports Oklahoma will televise Thunder

Fox Sports Net will televise up to 65 Oklahoma City Thunder games on its revamped regional network, Fox Sports Oklahoma, which will debut in late October to coincide with the start of the NBA season.

The remaining regular-season games and all seven preseason games will be televised by an over-the-air station, said Ken Adelson, Thunder senior vice president and executive producer. Adelson said he hoped to announce a deal with the station this week.

Fox Sports Oklahoma also will carry "Thunder Live” pregame and postgame programs and a weekly "Thunder Insider” show, said network general manager Jon Heidtke. Brian Davis and Grant Long, a 14-year NBA veteran, will broadcast the games with a yet-to-be named sideline reporter. The studio shows are expected to originate from Fox Sports Southwest's Dallas studio.

Heidtke said he expected about half of the game telecasts will air in HD.

In past seasons, FSN Southwest has aired Dallas Mavericks games in Oklahoma. Fox Sports Oklahoma still will air some Mavericks telecasts to homes outside a 75-mile radius of Oklahoma City — the Thunder's primary NBA territory.

Hey, that's GREAT (about the preseason games). That means that we'll get to see the very first ever game played by the Thunder on October 10 in Billings, Montana, v. Minnesota! Well, not everyone will ... I guess that it will be a local station carrying the preseason games. Though that will be a station carried on Cox, Cox doesn't go everywhere.

How do you know it will be on cox? Maybe a local station like fox25 or KSBI will pick it up?

Do we really need a new thread for every single press release on the same subject?

Well, the thing is, when one thread has about 50 posts in it, people tend to become disinterested or lose their place. Sometimes its better to start over fresh.

I'm totally fine with that. I enjoy OKCTalk a lot, but I really hate their years-old threads on similar topics. I like having things broken up a little more over here.

Rod, I'm just assuming that all local stations are included on COX's TV basic package for the OKC area, but I may be assuming incorrectly about that. I didn't mean that COX would be the "host" as it was with the Hornets, just that the local channel would be carried on Cox. That's all that I intended to say.

Me, too.
